Performance

An independent performing artist, Karisa has focused on contemporary chamber music throughout her career. Her recordings can be found on Cantaloupe, Naxos, EMF, Last Things, Albany, and Carrier record labels, including John Luther Adams’ Sila: the Breath of the World, which was nominated for a 2023 GRAMMY Award. Since 2010, Karisa has played in the Wet Ink Large Ensemble; Wet Ink was named the “Best Classical Music Ensemble of 2018” by the New York Times. As the oboist for Intrada Winds, Karisa received awards at the Fischoff Competition, the Coleman Competition, Chamber Music Yellow Springs and the Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition. She has been a featured soloist at the New York City Electronic Music Festival and the International Computer Music Conference.

As part of the Immer Neu Duo, Karisa partners with harpist Claire Happel Ashe to explore and commission contemporary works for oboe and harp.
