As an independent performing artist, Karisa focuses on contemporary chamber music. Her recordings can be found on Naxos, EMF, Northern Spy, Albany, and Carrier record labels. As oboist for Intrada Winds, Karisa received awards at the Fischoff Competition, the Coleman Competition, Chamber Music Yellow Springs and the Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition. She has been a featured soloist at the New York City Electronic Music Festival and the International Computer Music Conference.
As part of the Immer Neu Duo, Karisa partners with harpist Claire Happel Ashe to explore and commission contemporary works for oboe and harp. Karisa is a member of the Wet Ink Large Ensemble and also performs with Alarm Will Sound, Double Entendre, Argento Ensemble, West Side Chamber Orchestra, Quintet Tabor, Con Vivo Trio, and others.
